Manolo Valdés (born Manuel Valdés Blasco, 1942, Valencia) is a renowned Spanish painter and sculptor. Recipient of Spain's National Prize for Plastic Arts (1983) and the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts (1998). Master of drawing, painting, sculpture, and engraving, his work is technically refined, original, and provocative. After co-founding the Equipo Crónica collective in 1964, he developed a unique style inspired by Spanish heritage, Velázquez, and informalist artists like Millares and Tàpies. His prints reference masters such as Rembrandt, Rubens, and Matisse, blending intellectual depth with historical context. Lives and works in New York and Madrid. His works are held in major public and private collections worldwide. This 2003 publication, 'El artista en su taller,' features 140 pages in quarto format with a cloth-bound hardcover.
