Son of Édouard de Traz and Madeleine Gaume, he initially pursued a commercial career before turning to literature. Contributed to the review 'Les Essais' alongside figures like Daniel Halévy and Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz. Published 'L'Homme dans le rang' before WWI, later founding 'La Revue de Genève' with a European reconciliation spirit. First French translator of a Sigmund Freud lecture in 1920.
