Autographed letter handwritten and signed by Gabriel de Lautrec (1867-1938), French novelist, poet, translator and humorist. Cousin of painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, he was a disciple of Alfonso Allais and a prominent figure in Belle Époque Paris literary circles. Published collection of prose poetry (1898). Frequented Latin Quarter literary brasseries and Montmartre cabarets, hosting a salon in Passy where he received notable figures including Oscar Wilde and Paul Verlaine. Co-founded the Academy of Humor in 1930. Translated Mark Twain's works. Recipient of the Legion of Honor (1936). This is an original autographed manuscript document.
