Printed in Rheims by Jean de Foigny; And are sold in Paris, at Nicolas Chesneau, 1566. Full leather binding (heavily scuffed & with some small gaps, 11 x 17 cm, 4 ff. (table, privilege..) & 279 sheets, followed by 11 table sheets (the last table sheet is missing). Discreet little galleries of worms on the inner margin.
Rare edition, in the translation of Gentian Hervet (1499-1584), Catholic humanist named canon of Reims in 1561 and one of the only French theologians who attended the sessions of the Council.
We will note among the authors censored in the Index of prohibited books (pp. 241-269) the names of Théodore de Bèze, Boccaccio, Calvin, Clément Marot, Luther, Erasmus, Rabelais, Robert Estienne, Étienne Dolet, etc.
