Menagier de Paris, Treatise on Morals and Domestic Economy composed around 1393 by a Parisian bourgeois. 1961 edition, 21 x 27 cm, published by Chavane as a limited edition for Crédit Lyonnais patrons. Canvas-bound cabinet (slightly worn), prefaced by Pierre Gaxotte. Contains modern French translation by Jean-Paul Laurent, 88 pages, plus second volume with abridged version of the original text (approximately 120 pages). Includes reproduction of Paris city plan circa 1550 by O. Truschet and G. Hoyau. Written during the Hundred Years War, the treatise encompasses moral precepts, historical facts, domestic management instructions, information on royal and princely consumption in late 14th-century Paris, gardening advice, horse selection guidance, extensive culinary treatise, and comprehensive hunting instructions.
