JACQUEMONT Victor. Correspondance de Victor Jacquemont avec sa famille et plusieurs de ses amis, pendant son voyage en Inde (1828-1832). Paris: Librairie de H. Fournier, 1833. 2 volumes, half-leather bindings with minor hinge crack and scattered foxing. Original complete edition with unfolded map at end of volume two. Victor Jacquemont, who died in Bombay during a scientific mission, was a remarkable figure as traveler, scholar and man of the world. His candid, witty and skeptically-minded yet benevolent correspondence was never intended for publication, yet is considered the first modern account of India.Related Products
