In-12 format, 8 ff., XII & 534 pp. Full period calfskin binding in used condition (covers almost detached, small gaps in spine caps, rubbed corners), detached frontispiece but otherwise very rare copy. François Gacon (Lyon 1667–1725), celebrated satirical poet who attacked numerous contemporary writers with sustained and often crude verve. His caustic satires earned him many enemies, imprisonment for several months, and physical violence. Gacon particularly targeted Bossuet and Boileau.
