Rotterdam, Fritsch and Bohm, 1712 In-12, 8 ff., XII & 534 pp. Full period calfskin binding (as is: almost detached covers, small gaps in caps, rubbed corners), detached frontispiece but otherwise very rare copy.
Francois Gacon, born in Lyon in 1667 died in 1725, satirical poet, he attacked numerous contemporary writers with sustained and often crude verve. His satires brought him many enemies, imprisonment for several months and a few beatings. Gacon particularly attacked Bossuet and Boileau.
