Description

Description

Pierre de L'ESTOILE’s Memoirs and Journals covering the period from 1574 to 1611. Published by Tallandier in the 'Mémoires Essentiels' collection. Set of 8 volumes out of 12 (missing the last 4 volumes), published in 1982. Publisher bindings in sheepskin, one spine slightly worn, 21x15 cm format, gilt edges, fresh interior. The binding, bearing Pierre de l'Estoile's coat of arms, was designed and engraved by Michel Vincent for this edition, inspired by the binding created by Thouvenin for Charles Nodier in 1829, based on a 17th-century copy and known as the 'fanfare' binding.
