About this book

Paris, Firmin Didot, 1873. In-8°, 529 pp., first volume. Binding absent, marbled edges, spine preserved. De Ségur served as aide-de-camp to Napoleon during the Empire, then as attaché to Joseph's court. His engaging memoirs, reprinted multiple times, interweave Napoleon's history with his own life. Though eloquently written, these recollections have perhaps been granted excessive historical credence.
