Paris, H. Simonis Empis, 1897. Octavo, unbound, 291 pages. Cover slightly damaged. Extremely rare copy, complete with generous margins, uncut, printed on high-quality Holland Van Gelder paper. Jean Pommerol (1859–1921), a pseudonym for Lucie Guenot, was a writer and officer of Public Instruction. She spent two years in the Sahara following military expeditions, documenting the lives of Bedouin women. Contributor to Minerva (1902) and several illustrated reports for Le Monde illustré. Widow of Paul Bertrand, later married to Commandant Gabriel Farouel.
