Scholarly study of the unique Hellenistic archaeological monument located in the Jordan Valley, 15 km southwest of Amman. The fortress, constructed in the 2nd century BCE, was built by Hyrcanus of the Tobiades family. Features remarkable decorative elements combining Hellenistic and Persian artistic influences, including high reliefs and friezes documenting the multicultural architecture of the Hellenistic period.
