Paris, orientalist bookstore Paul Geuthner, 1991, 31 x 48 cm, 2 volumes (one of text and one of plates), cardboard binding (a tear on one edge otherwise very good condition), 413 & 100 plates, very clean .

Iraq al-Amir is a village in Jordan, Amman Province. The village is located in the Jordan Valley, about 15 kilometers southwest of the town of Wadi Al Seer (large suburb of Amman). The village is home to a unique archaeological monument: the “castle” of Iraq al Amir , whose construction dates from iie century av. J.-C. and is linked to Hyrcanus, a member of the family of Tobiades. The decoration of this ensemble is remarkable: inspired by Hellenistic art and Persian art, the high reliefs and friezes constitute a leading testimony to the multiple influences in the architecture of the Hellenistic period on the borders of the Lagid and Seleucids.
