Collection of anecdotes concerning the prominent figures since the beginning of the French Revolution, by a forced chamberlain. Paris, Menard and Desenne, 1820. Three volumes, octavo format, half-leather binding, marbled edges, XVIII-378 + 362 + 400 pages. Wear to corners and headbands; tears to upper headbands of volume three and crushing marks along spine of the same volume (some leaves creased at margins). Second edition of this anonymous work, the first edition having appeared in 1816 with the same publishers in two volumes under the slightly different title Buonaparte, sa famille et sa Cour, etc. Very rare.Related Products
