Description

PORCHE (FRANCOIS). La Jeune fille aux joues roses. Paris, chez Emile-Paul Frères, paperback 1919, octavo, 257 pp. paperback. First edition. Limited edition of 445 numbered copies. This is one of 425 copies on Moirans amber vellum, here number 372. A beautiful copy. Allegorical, La Jeune Fille aux Joues roses was staged at the Sarah-Bernhardt theater in March 1919. It is also a fairy tale symbolizing the struggle between love that liberates, creates, and embodies Life, the divine, and the cold Method that freezes thought, the rigid Form represented by its faithful followers, the gray faces, which is nothing other than Death. (Gerard Walch in Les Poètes nouveaux).
