These camps were created by Vichy on July 30, 1940, commanded by de La Porte Du Theil, and dissolved in 1944. All young people in the free zone were required to complete an 8-month internship; the goal was the "national revolution" but also to prepare trained and supervised personnel for possible resumption of hostilities.
