A Moral Reflection on Fortune

Description

Chevreau's Le tableau de la fortune, a new edition revised and expanded with several moral, political, and natural remarks. Published in Paris by Jacques Boüillerot in 1664, the book comprises 418 pages bound in full calf, measuring 83 x 145 mm. The corners are worn, with losses at the caps. It contains three parts: the first discusses the decline of empires and kingdoms, the ruin of cities, and disasters caused by natural elements; the second covers misfortunes of kings and nobles due to wars; the third addresses the misfortunes faced by princes, courtiers, scholars, ladies, and various individuals through different adventures.
