The author, Louis ROUGIER (1889-1982), an anti-Christian and liberal philosopher, was tasked with a mission to London in October 1940, as an instrument of Vichy's passive policy towards Britain. He traveled to the USA in December 1940, where he refused to recognize the legitimacy of the struggle against France. Post-war, he became a member of the steering committee of the association for the defense of Marshal Pétain's memory in 1951, exerting significant influence on the New Right and its thinker Alain de Benoist. This work aims to reinforce the thesis of the Marshal's double game.
