In-12 format, 8 ff., XII & 534 pp. Period full calf binding (as is: boards nearly detached, minor wear to headbands, rubbed corners), frontispiece detached but present; otherwise very rare copy. François Gacon, born in Lyon in 1667, died in 1725, was a satirical poet who attacked numerous contemporary writers with sustained and often coarse verve. His satires earned him many enemies, several months imprisonment and some beatings. Gacon particularly targeted Bossuet and Boileau.
