FLAUBERT Gustave. The Legend of Saint Julian the Hospitaller. Léon Courbouleix [circa 1950]. In-4 (321 x 250 mm), 2 blank leaves, 36 leaves. Unbound sheets with illustrated wrapper, in slipcase and cardboard slipcase (rubbed). Entirely engraved with etching for text and illustrations, printed on hand press by Léon Courbouleix. 44 illustrations engraved in strong etching, including one on cover, title vignette and 42 in text (3 full-page). Pages framed with bistre-drawn floral frieze. Large capitals at paragraph openings filled and colored in red. One of ten non-commercial copies on super pearly Japanese paper, enriched with two original watercolors and suite in red chalk of inserts, title, chapter headings and cover. Very fresh copy. Limited edition of 300 copies (15 on Japan paper, 10 outside of commerce).
