Auction catalog of the Raphaël Esmerian collection, comprising five volumes in large quarto format. Contents: Part I - Illuminated manuscripts and books from the 15th-16th centuries with ornate and mosaic bindings bearing the arms of François I, Henri II, Catherine de Medici, and other historical figures. Part II - 17th-century workshop bindings and books from the 17th-18th centuries with bindings featuring the arms of French royalty and nobility including Louis XIV, Louis XV, Marie-Antoinette, and Cardinal Richelieu. Part III - 18th-century illustrated books with original drawings by Oudry, Moreau le Jeune, Cochin, and etchings in various states. Part IV - 19th-century illustrated books including works by Goya (Caprichos, Tauromachy), Redouté (Les Roses), Delacroix's Faust, and albums by Daumier and Gavarni, in fine mosaic bindings.
