In 1970, Guichard, later a general pharmacist (reserve corps) of the marine troops, commander of the Legion of Honour, recipient of the Croix de Guerre (4 citations), the Verdun Medal, and Air Observer badge no. 2452, recounts vivid anecdotes, camaraderie, combat, daily life, sorrow, and humour.
