Illustrated with 120 drawings by Jules David, engraved by Chevin. G. Kugelmann, 1842. Large octavo format, fine full leather binding, superbly ornamented with special gilt tooling, gilt edges. Wear to headbands, bumped corners, interior hinges split, some gatherings loosened. 4 preliminary leaves, 332 pages (including X in Roman numerals). First edition printing of Jules David's illustrations including 20 woodcuts outside the text and 100 vignettes within the text, engraved by Chevin.
