Colonel de Gaury describes the rulers of Mecca and their reigns, period by period, while details on the pedigree kept in this regard by the Arabs accompany the relevant chapters. An overall background to the history is provided in the Preface and other features, in addition to the maps and illustrations, include a bibliography, a glossary, a chronological table of the emirs of Mecca from 1201 AD onward, and a complete index.
