This work presents high-quality historical essays by seven Quebecois and French authors on the administrative, socio-cultural, military, and socio-demographic history of the Marine troops' officers who served in Canada from 1683, when the decision was made to send these units to North America, to 1760, the year of the military capitulation of the Canadian colony. Additionally, the socio-demographic data presented is largely unpublished, resulting from specific research undertaken for this project. Marcel Fournier and his collaborators explore new avenues regarding the presence and roles of Marine officers in the conquest of a continent on behalf of the King of France.
