Count de Montlosier, DE L'ORIGINE, DE LA NATURE ET DES PROGRES DE LA PUISSANCE ECCLESIASTIQUE EN FRANCE, Paris, chez Ladvocat, 1829, paperback, missing back cover, cracked spine, worn copy, 334 pp. The Count de Montlosier (1755-1838) was a representative of the nobility from the Auvergne seneschalsy to the Estates-General and the National Assembly until 1791, where he became an apostle of monarchy and feudal institutions. He emigrated at that time, returning to France around 1800. Subsequently, he was a publicist, professor at the University of Jurisprudence in Paris, attached to the Ministry of External Relations, political correspondent of Napoleon during his campaigns, and a naturalist funded by the imperial treasury; he became a peer of France after the Revolution of 1830 (Querard)
