In the 19th century, the Marais was abandoned by aristocracy and bourgeoisie, evolving into a bustling neighborhood, with Rue des Francs-Bourgeois hosting many venerable artisans. The visit starts on the opposite side with the hotels Lamavoine, Barbes, Le Tellier, the Mont-de-Piété, the Blancs-Manteaux convent... and then on the flat side with the Carnavalet Museum, the convent of the Petites Cordières, the hotels Mortier and Sandreville...
