Volumes II-V detail Captain Cook's expeditions 1768-1779 with biographical notice and 34 plates total. Volume VI covers La Pérouse (1785-1788) and subsequent voyages by Baudin, Freycinet, Duperrey, and d'Urville, with 8 plates. Volume VII contains James Bruce's travels to Nubia and Abyssinia (1768-1772) with color folding map of Africa and 8 plates. Volume VIII includes historical details and Le Vaillant's African travels (1780-1785), 441 pages.
