Four autograph manuscript cards and a typed letter addressed to poet Fernand Gregh. Georges Lecomte (1867–1958), French novelist, playwright, art critic, and literary historian, served twice as president of the Société des gens de lettres (SGDL). A staunch Dreyfusard and defender of authors' rights, he co-founded the Société des romanciers et conteurs français in 1907 to combat plagiarism abroad. Elected to the Académie française in 1924, he became its perpetual secretary in 1946. Decorated with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, he held pro-Vichy views during WWII.Related Products
