Description
Department of Gers established January 28, 1790 by the National Assembly. Paris, PG Chanlaire and Veuve Dumez, engraved by François d'Houdan, 590 x 860 mm (edges to edges). First printed map of the Department of Gers, engraved by François d'Houdan for the National Atlas of France, subdivided into 5 districts or sub-prefectures and 29 cantons or justices of the peace. Shows prefecture of the department, sub-prefecture towns, main communes of the cantons. Scale: 20,000 Toises and 40,000 meters. On uncut laid paper. Small cuts, light halos at margins, minor burn mark at edge of department in Sauveterre commune (5 mm). Beautiful object in good condition.
