Memoirs of Mademoiselle Quinault elder (of the Comédie-Française), Duchess of Nevers [sic], knight of the Royal Order of Saint-Michel. From 1715 to 1793. Paris, Ch. Allardin 1836. Octavo format, [4]-386 pp., torn binding (requires restoration). Although Marie-Anne Quinault (1695-1791) was a real actress who debuted at the Comédie Française on January 1, 1714, these memoirs are a fabrication by the prolific polygrapher LAMOTHE-LANGON, known for mass-producing sensationalist accounts. The work failed to meet reader expectations: originally planned as four volumes but limited to two. Very rare.
