Paperback, lacks back cover, split spine, marked copy, 334 pp. The Count of Montlosier (1755-1838) was successively deputy of the nobility of the Sénéchaussée d'Auvergne in the States-General and at the National Assembly until 1791, where he became an advocate of monarchy and feudal institutions. He returned to France around 1800 and subsequently served as publicist, professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Paris, attaché to the Ministry of Foreign Relations, political correspondent of Napoleon during his campaigns, naturalist in the imperial treasury; peer of France after the 1830 revolution.
