It is illustrated with 100 black compositions both in and out of text by various artists including Borione, Brun, Forcade, Clair, Guyot, Mouchot, and Toussaint. The book opens with a frontispiece by Rochegrosse and features engravings by Méaulle. The publisher's binding is in full percaline with gold and black on a red background, signed by Engel. It has gilded edges, a beautiful gutter, slightly bumped corners, and minor scattered wear. The spine and first cover have faded colors, while the back cover exhibits a vibrant red color with a beautiful black decoration, featuring floral motifs in the corners and center.
