Subsequently, he was a publicist, professor at the University of Jurisprudence in Paris, attached to the Ministry of External Relations, political correspondent of Napoleon during his campaigns, and a naturalist funded by the imperial treasury; he became a peer of France after the Revolution of 1830 (Querard)
