Full leather binding (heavily rubbed with minor gaps), 11 x 17 cm, 4 preliminary leaves (table, privilege) & 279 leaves, followed by 11 table leaves (last table leaf missing). Subtle small worm galleries on inner margins. Rare edition in the translation by Gentian HERVET (1499-1584), Catholic humanist appointed Canon of Reims in 1561 and one of the few French theologians who participated in the Council sessions. Among censored authors listed in the Index of Prohibited Books (p. 241-269): Théodore de Bèze, Boccaccio, Calvin, Clément Marot, Luther, Erasmus, Rabelais, Robert Estienne, Étienne Dolet, etc.
