Paris, Didot the Elder, Year IX (1801). 20 large volumes in 12mo (20 x 12 cm), illustrated with a portrait of Rousseau by A. de Saint-Aubin as frontispiece of the first volume and 24 engravings outside the text, including 15 plates with engraved music, one folding sheet, a table and a facsimile folding sheet. The 24 figures are from a collection of 64 figures engraved under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Dupréel after Moreau, Le Barbier, Chasselat, Mayer and others. Fresh interior. Exceptional vellum binding signed by F. Bozérian, smooth spine decorated with straight and crossed gold threads, black morocco title pieces and black morocco armorial pieces for volume numbers, back cover and endpapers of blue marbled paper with red veining, wave ornaments on edges, all edges gilded, 3 volumes with partial tears to boards. Green and white silk doublures. Green silk bookmarks. Enhanced with beautiful exlibris in each volume (C. Mc Master Brookville-Donnybrook).
