Desrez, 1837. 2 tomes in 2 vol. in 8°, beautiful half‑leather binding, plates richly ornamented, edges and corners rubbed, gilded ends, some rare red stains, (binding of the period), 3 ff. n. ch. (false title, frontispiece, title), VI pp. (warning), 1 f. n. ch. (notice concerning Cervantes) 480 pp. (Tome I‑), 2 ff. n. ch. (false title, title), 524 pp. (Tome II).
Original edition of this translation issued by Frédéric de Brotonne (1797‑1840) who was sub‑librarian at the Bibliothèque Sainte‑Geneviève. Illustrated with a portrait of Cervantes engraved in the frontispiece and with out‑of‑text figures by Charlet engraved on copper. (Quérard‑Louandre‑Bourquelot, II, p. 450).
