BEZIERS (Michel) Histoire sommaire de la ville de Bayeux. Preceded by a preliminary discourse on the diocese of that name. Caen, Manoury, 1773. In-8°, LII-236 & 73 pp., half-leather binding, hinges partially split, wear on covers, some moisture traces on 3 leaves & remarkable hand-written restorations of 4 leaves entirely rewritten in printing style, including the title page. The Brief History is followed by a Notice in which Beziers added two documents on Bayeux history. The first is the Procès-verbal of devastation caused by Protestants in 1562 and 1563 in the city and cathedral. The second is the ecclesiastical register known as the Livre Pelut, the oldest register of the Bayeux diocese.Related Products
