Boussingault, Jean-Baptiste (1801-1887) Mémoires de J.-B. Boussingault Paris, typography of Chamerot et Renouard, 1896-1903, 288, 295, 359, 373 pp., includes a portrait frontispiece at the beginning of each volume, spines cracked, interior otherwise fresh, deserving of a fine binding. Lacks the first volume Sur Hollande printed in 300 numbered copies (ours being number 220). Written towards the end of his life, these memoirs, based on his memories and notes, were not intended for publication. They were printed to be given to the author's friends. Botanist, chemist, and agronomist, Jean-Baptiste Boussingault was a Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Lyon, later obtaining a chair of agriculture at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers. He was a member of the Council of State.
