Czech poet and photographer Jindřich Heisler (1914–1953) joined the Czech Surrealist group in 1938, just as the Nazi occupation forced the movement and Czech artists underground. A year later, Heisler published his first poetry collection. In his brief yet audacious career, Heisler suddenly passed away at the age of thirty-eight, having created some of the most remarkable assemblage works of the Surrealist movement.
