Charles Henri Georges Pouchet (1833–1894), son of naturalist Félix Archimède Pouchet, was a French naturalist and anatomist. Professor of comparative anatomy at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle de Paris and director of the maritime laboratory of Concarneau. Friend of Flaubert, Guy de Maupassant, and Céard, with contacts to Zola. Specialized in comparative anatomy of fish and cetaceans. Early defender of polygénism. Published Pluralité des Races Humaines (1858), translated to English in 1864. Participated in scientific expeditions to the Nile sources (1856) and polar regions of Svalbard and Jan Mayen (1892). Maupassant dedicated his story La Mère sauvage to him (1884). Very rare.
