4 autograph postcards and 1 typewritten letter addressed to poet Fernand Gregh, concerning the presidency of the Société des gens de lettres (SGDL). Georges Lecomte (1867-1958), French novelist, playwright, and literary critic, served as SGDL president twice: 1908-1910 and 1913-1916. During his second presidency, he organized the Society's jubilee in July 1913 and established the Denier des Veuves fund for widows of writers. Lecomte was instrumental in defending French writers' rights internationally and founded the Société des romanciers et conteurs français in 1907 with colleagues including Maurice Leblanc and Marcel Prévost. He received the Vitet Prize from the Académie française in 1910 and was elected member in 1924, becoming perpetual secretary on March 28, 1946. Decorated with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor.
