Complete with fold-out map of Peking at the beginning. Publisher's binding in full red cloth, signed by J. FAU and bound by Nerson, with beveled edges. First cover decorated with a beautiful polychrome composition after BOMBLED. Blunt corners, wear marks at headbands and spine. Gilt-edged pages, loose signatures, one hinge (interior) torn; interior otherwise well preserved. Illustrated with 100 wood engravings in text and 20 large compositions outside the text, including 8 monochrome prints in red, blue, or sepia.
