Description

Beautiful autographed letter signed by Robert de TRAZ to poet Fernand Gregh. Son of Édouard de Traz (1831-1918), Genevese engineer, and French mother Madeleine Gaume (1851-1919); elder brother Georges de Traz (1881-1980). After distinguished commercial studies, he turned to literature and contributed early to the journal Les essais alongside Daniel Halévy and Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz. Pre-war publication: L'Homme dans le rang, military sketches exalting martial virtues. Post-war transformation following combat trauma; founded La revue de Genève for European reconciliation. Published first French translation of Sigmund Freud conference (1920), meeting Freud in Vienna (1923). Elected foreign literary member of Belgian Royal Academy of French Language and Literature (1938). Buried at Pregny cemetery.
