Victor Margueritte’s scandalous 1920s novel with Bécat’s vibrant illustrations

Victor Margueritte’s novel 'La Garçonne' is a social satire from 1922. This 1957 edition by Germaine Raoult, Paris, is printed in 25 x 30 cm format, unbound in sheets, with folded dust jacket, slipcase, and cardboard box. It contains 282 pages with fresh interior, featuring Paul-Emile Bécat’s color illustrations, including original full-page plates (colored by Maurice Beaufumé). Limited to 975 copies on Rives vellum, this is one of 17 special copies with a suite of remarks on the illustrations and a rejected plate in two states (though one drawing and a sketch by the artist are missing).
