Maurice DRUON Theater. Set of autograph leaves comprising the Mégarée manuscript: 15 handwritten leaves, first three typescript on white paper, next twelve on blue paper, rust traces on upper margin of first leaf (numbered 1-15). Enriched with touching dedication to the author's wife, dated March 1, 1942: "For you, Geneviève, these pages which were the first written when I took over Mégarée after the armistice, these pages which are your best part in Mégarée, in memory of Malmaison and our dreams for the future which gave us the grace of not changing color by becoming the present. Maurice." Play premiered February 3, 1942, at Monte-Carlo theater under direction of Marcel Sablon. His first play, performed in Monaco shortly before the invasion of the southern zone. Drama based on Greek hero Megareus who sacrifices himself to restore freedom to his loved ones. Accompanied by a copy of Mégarée, Julliard, 1949, 143 pp., dedicated to his wife.
