French Courier from 1886 to 1889

Description

Jules Roques' Le Courrier Français features literature, fine arts, theater, medicine, and finance. This collection includes 13 issues, each approximately 39 x 29 cm, in wraps with a waiting cover, and about a dozen pages per issue. Minor foxing and a few frayed leaves are noted. Special features include N°41 from 1886, focused on wine and harvest (16 pp.), and several issues from 1888 and the first of 1889. The publication celebrated artists and cultural events, notably the masked balls that revitalized Parisian Carnival. It also had a bold editorial stance, shifting tone with changing editorial leadership.
