FLAUBERT Gustave. La Légende de Saint Julien l'Hospitalier. Léon Courbouleix [circa 1950]. Quarto (321 x 250 mm), 2 blank leaves, 36 leaves. Loose leaves, illustrated cover with flaps, housed in a slipcase and cardboard box (worn), entirely engraved with etchings, text and illustrations, printed on a hand press by Léon Courbouleix. 44 etchings, including one on the cover, one title vignette, and 42 within the text, of which 3 are full page, including text and tailpieces. Plates framed with a floral border printed in bistre. The large capitals at the beginning of paragraphs are filled and colored in red. One of ten non-commercial copies on supernacré Japon paper, enriched with two original watercolors. Printed in 300 copies, of which fifteen are on Japon, and 10 non-commercial copies. Our copy is one of the 10 non-commercial copies printed for the artist on supernacré Japon paper and features his signature. Enriched with two original watercolors and a suite in sanguine of the illustrations, title, chapter heads, and cover. A delightful, fresh copy.Related Products
