First edition limited to 15 copies on Holland paper, including seven copies not released to market; this is copy no. 7. Contains 4 pages entirely handwritten by the author from April 1914 (manuscript of the book's preface) and 2 handwritten letters from the author to his friend Marcel, to whom he offered these 4 manuscript pages. Charles Derennes (1882-1930) was a French writer, son of historian and Breton academician Gustave Derennes. He studied at the lycée in Talence near Bordeaux, later in Paris at the Sorbonne where he earned his degree in Literature in 1903. He participated in literary circles including those of Anna de Noailles and contributed to the journal La Plume. During World War I, he served as a military nurse in southwestern France.
