Description

Alice HURTREL. A historical account of the love affair between Catherine de Bourbon, sister of the King, and the Count of Soissons. Published in Paris by Georges Hurtrel in 1882. The book is a 12mo with 218 pages, featuring a frontispiece and 9 engraved plates (8 in two tones) along with vignettes, initials, and tailpieces. It is bound in a cream printed cover under a decorative red percaline slipcase adorned with special gold stamps from the publisher (with broken ties), and shows some pale foxing. Limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies signed by the author, this is number 54. Illustrations by M. Adolphe Lalauze (etcher), and drawings by MM. Riester, A. Lalauze, Uzès, Georges Hurtrel, with engravings by MM. F. Méaulle and Gillot.
